Some of my clearest childhood memories are of watching my grandmother fight illness. Her doctors tried countless medications, but nothing brought her much comfort. Seeing her struggle lit a spark in me for health care early on, and I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to helping people improve their quality of life. Years later, I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Wellness. Afterward, I worked as a Health Educator at a local fitness center and taught health, science, and nutrition at a community college. Five years later, I decided to continue my education and earned my Registered Nurse degree from the Presbyterian School of Nursing. Since then, I’ve spent over two decades working as an RN in a wide range of medical and community settings, both locally and nationally, including cancer centers, urgent care, mental health and substance abuse clinics, pain management, diabetes and thyroid clinics, and homeless shelters.
Although I had a fulfilling career, I felt a strong desire to continue my education in preventive health. I earned my ND/NMD (Doctor of Natural Medicine) from the Trinity School of Natural Health. Over the years, I also became certified as a Certified Natural Health Provider and as a Basic Life Support Instructor (CPR and First Aid) through the American Heart Association. Today, I work as both an RN and a NMD health consultant, using my broad education and hands-on experience in health promotion, nursing, and natural medicine to guide clients toward achieving a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
